FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CHILD SAFETY
Ensuring the well-being of our cherished campers, guests, and staff is Geneva Hill's foremost commitment. In collaboration with the state of Ohio, we diligently uphold elevated safety standards and practices to ensure the most secure environment we can. Our paramount focus is the health and welfare of our beloved camp community. Rest assured, your child's safety is our top priority, and we spare no effort to create a nurturing and protected camp experience.
It is our hope that every camper will remain healthy and fully able to participate in all aspects of camp life. Just in case, though, Geneva Hills staff have undergone many hours of training to properly care for your child including CPR, First Aid, and AED training. We also supervise the provision of medication at each dosage. Being only 12 minutes from the local hospital, we are prepared for almost any emergency that may happen at camp.
All medication that is brought to camp will need to be in it's original container, within the expiration date, and marked with the child's name. Our staff must follow the written instructions on the medication when administering medication. All medication must be disclosed and given to our staff during the check-in process.
SUMMER STAFF
We take pride in our careful staff selection process. Each year we participate in 20+ recruiting fairs at colleges throughout the country seeking the best of the best. Prospective counselors undergo a thorough application, including a background check and interview.
We know that your child's safety is of upmost concern and we too want to ensure a safe and fun adventure for your child. Our team spends over 140 hours engaging in training experiences that ensure they provide your camper the safest and best experience possible
Your child's safety as well as the safety of our staff team is of upmost importance. If there is a light and steady rain, and there is no risk of lightning, campers will still be able to walk to the activities and programs planned for the day. Our full-time staff monitor the weather at all times and check to make sure lightning and heavy rain is outside of the set range around camp. If lightning does happen to come within the designated range, then we will make sure all the campers and staff are safe inside a building. We will then proceed with pre-planned activities options for indoor recreation. Staff are also trained for other risks such as tornados, wild-fires, and mass shootings. We take meticulous care in providing the proper training and resources needed to keep your children as safe as we can.

The Geneva Hills Camp Store is a great place for campers to pick up gear and snacks during their stay! Popular items include t-shirts and hats for $25 each, and hoodies for $40. We also offer snacks and drinks priced between $1 and $3. Based on typical spending, most campers who want a t-shirt and enjoy a daily snack should have about $40 loaded onto their camp card to cover these purchases. This ensures they can grab a souvenir and a daily treat without needing extra cash throughout the week.
Kids spend on average 52 hours a week in front of an electronic screen. We believe in teaching kids how to be extraordinary without being tied to electronic screens, so we ask that campers do not bring phones, video games, or other electronic devices, except digital cameras. This policy gives children the gift of a technology-free environment — a place where campers, counselors, and staff are fully present with each other, transporting them to a place where we can forge relationships that last a lifetime.
OVERNIGHT CAMP
Check In for overnight camps will begin at 6pm on your first day of camp. Please drop your child off at the Geneva Lodge and make sure all paperwork and medications have been taken care of with our Check In table before leaving your child.
